As promotional pieces for my comic, Persona Animus, I am doing formal portraits in oil of the main characters. This one is Elise Bowen, a healer and diplomat. I also made wallpaper.

This is my first finished illustration in oil. Ever! Very challenging.

This picture is available as a print! Details here!

Weird is good.
my my my... She looks very regal in this image. I love the style of painting you've done, and the quality is just superb overall. I'm most blown away, however, by just the way that she looks. She has a strange quiet confidence about her that makes her look very lady-like and also very innocent. I've been trying to pull that off as well, and it's a very hard thing to do. This particular character of yours always seems to amaze me like this.

Thanks for the kind words. It is such a relief when someone finds the qualities that I was trying to paint.

I've been drawing Elise for so long that I don't have to worry about how to draw her anymore, so I can concentrate on getting across what she is thinking and feeling. I still don't hit it every time.

Well, I did a drawing on the board before I started painting. Also, this was the third attempt. Building with shapes instead of lines is still pretty new to me.

Thanks for the kind words.

^_^ hey, you did better than me!
Very nice--especially for a first oil painting. I love cartoons done in detailed paintings. It looks even better in person (as I saw at MAGNET last weekend.)
Thanks! I am glad people seem to like it. I was so close to it for so long it's hard for me to see past the flaws.

You were at MAGNET! Yay! One of the six people to walk by my table. :boogie:
